BPI Building Analyst Certification

A Building Analyst understands the principles of building science, energy conservation and effective energy retrofitting. BPI website

If you are new to weatherization (WX):

  1. Order and study the Residential Energy textbook from Saturn Resources,  which provides a strong foundation for learning single family residence analysis.
  2. Successful certification candidates will be knowledgeable and skilled in the following topic areas:
    • Blower Door & Pressure Diagnostics
    • Combustion Safety for Weatherization
    • Envelope Measures: Air Sealing & Insulation
    • Moisture Control & Ventilation Strategies
    • Introductory Auditor
    • Duct System Testing & Duct System Repair
    • Base-load Measures
    • Electrical Hazard Identification
    • Heating Systems & Diagnostics
    • Mobile Home Retrofits
  3. Get certified by signing up for the BPI Building Analyst Certification. See a list of courses and certifications to register.

If you are currently working in weatherization:

  1. take the following BPC courses:
    • Blower Door & Pressure Diagnostics
    • Combustion Safety for Weatherization
    • Weatherization Technician
    • Mobile Home Training 
  2. current or renewing BPI certified professionals:
    • Check your BPI and Continuing Education Units (CEU) certification status: BPI login.
    • Sign up for certification by taking the BPI Written Exam and BPI Field Exam.

Lead Renovator – Initial: EPA RRP, WA State
