Course Description:
This Weatherization Technician course is a 2.5-day training designed to provide WX Field Staff the basic weatherization skills and knowledge to install Weatherization materials for a typical retrofit. Students will participate and practice work with hands on modules and limited classroom time. All work will be done in accordance with the Washington State Commerce Policy Manual and the NREL Standard Work Specifications.

Course Content & Objectives:
- Identify and explore standards and specifications for weatherization tasks
- Demonstrate and apply the variety of tasks in the training laboratory, including but not limited to:
- Install insulation baffles.
- Install insulation damming.
- Installation of ducting for exhaust fans or HVAC.
- Install insulation batts in a floor.
- Install pipe insulation.
- Install water heater insulation.
- Install insulation on ductwork.
- Install Dense Pack insulation
Course Requirements:
- Students should dress in clothes appropriate for weatherization work. We will be working with insulation, mastic and foam. We will provide students with personal protection equipment and tools.
- Technology
- Ability to use BPC provided iPads for reference material and testing
- BPC provided online Learning Management System – personal Moodle link to be sent by BPC
Prerequisites and Work Experience:
- None necessary
Assessments and Grading:
- All assessments will be multiple choice question style
- In-progress assessment activities throughout
- One final assessment
Candidate must achieve a 70% or higher to pass the final assessment
